Farmer's Wife Quilt - Block 84

As I have already written, I have not yet perfected joining pieces together by hand.  I may need to do this one again.  My next block is shaping up lots better.

New Directions

This blog will mark my journey into techniques I have yet to perfect.  Hand sewing  pieces together is one of them.  So far, I have been avoiding handsewing unless I am sewing down bindings.

I plan to do a complicated Mariners Compass to finish the Storm at Sea quilt which has been growing (very)slowly over the past year or so.  I have redesigned the position of the Compass a few times already.

Along with this I am about to begin the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt.  This is based on a competition held in the 1920's. Letters  from farmer's wives all over the (American) countryside wrote in, and these are the blocks their letters inspired.

A number of members of the Craft Forum I belong to are attempting this quilt of   111 blocks  6" square.

A visit

This little man came to visit us at lunchtime today.  Eirto was 4 months old  last  Wednesday.  His parents have a  video of him laughing at something he thought was hilarious.  He sat on his Dad's lap and "talked " and smiled at me all through lunch.  Casey was very interested in this new person,  maybe in a few months time we'll let them get together.  Eirto  was not so interested in Casey though.  Not scared, just not interested.  His mum took the photo.
